My car stalled in the rain RIGHT after I had a new cat put on it. I think my problem was that EXCESS moisture was getting into the system as a result of TOO MUCH back pressure from the cat, coupled with the leak letting the moisture in pre-spark... If you need a new cat, you need a new cat.
HERE is how you can tell, maybe.
1)take old cat off
2)drive in the rain
3)Have AAA card ready just in case.
4)If it quit stalling. the cats were the problem.
BTW, my car has NO cats now, and it runs like a BULL. I had a straight pipe installed. (For racing only, of course...)
