Maybe the site below can help you with the model and so forth from the VIN:

: : First of all the only thing "M" about it is the badges that I assume you are looking at on the front and back which were likely added by a previous owner. The 24v engine was not dropped into the European 6 series until 1984, and didn't make over here until '86.
: : If you brought it up to excellent condition it would probably be worth around $4,500, and that would be with a full service history.
: : FYI, if someone dropped an M engine into it somewhere along the way it will look this picture:
: : : This is one bad ass car. I bought for $500 in Louisiana. 120,000 miles, 5 speed, 4 whl disk brakes,
: : : a/c, power windows, 6 cylinder. No one knows anything about this car around here. have never seen one like it ever. It needs about 6 grand to make it mint. Should I spend the money? How much would it be worth in mint cond? Runs great, needs some electrical work (windows, a/c fan, blinkers), paint job (body in good shape), and I think it has recaro seats that needs new leather. Any info about car, parts, that can help me i would appreciate. thanks
: Thanks for thee feedback Alex. The only reason I thought it is a m6, is becouse of the m on the valve cover. But it dont look like the picture you sent. Is there anyway you could send a picture of a car that you think or know that i have? There are no badges on the car at all. The car has been painted, I cant really find anything on the car that confirms what it really is. I'm new to this bmw thing. I'm sad to know this car is worth so little, because it really is a nice car. Maybe I can find out how to send a picture of the car to you so i could possibly get some more info on the car? thanks again
