: I am trying to help a friend with a '85 635csi euro who has a tachometer problem. All the gauges in the instrument cluster work except the tachometer. The instrument cluster has had the Ni-Cad's replaced. Also the odometer does not register miles. Any suggestions?

: Thanx in advance.

This is what happens, Bmw desgined the system, but they were not thinking of 12 years down the road. I have had the same problem, with mine after the tach went shortly the temp gauge and gas went. The Ni-Cad batterys will leak. The solution in again taking out the instrument cluster and resolder the entire back this will solve the problem for another 12 years.
