: : I just had the chip installed a week or 2 ago and heard its OK to run 87 octane gas with it. Has anyone had any bad experiences with this combo??

: : Thanks

: : Tom
: : 87 M6

: I have watched this site for a long time and have been helped many times by the information provided!

: However, when it comes to a 10 to 15 thousand dollar M engine, I would call Dinan directly before using 87 octane gas in an M6, chip or no chip!

: Just my 2 cents.

: John

: P.S. are the perfomance gains noticible with the chip?

The M6 engine is a high compression engine, thus requiring a high octane gas to reduce precombustion. The dinan chip is nothing special, it is simply an Euro m635 chip. In Europe, they run higher octane fuel. Use the highest octane possible, especially when using the chip. Octane boost is also recommended
