: : : The nipplw that a water line from the engine slips onto has rotted. Can I plug this hose and nipple? If not can I buy a used throttle body? Where? Thanks for any kind of info. Rod

: : If I get this right. A fitting on the throttle body that attaches to a water hose that goes to the engine water jacket has corroded and it is leaking. Correct? This hose is designed to warm the intake air with hot water from the engine.
: : To answer your question. Yes you can block off the water hose and the fitting on the throttle body. But you will not have warm water to heat the air on those cold mornings. You could block off the water return line as well (on left side of block --difficult to get at though and not really necessary).
: : I have done this one one of my cars to get a big more power (colder air).
: : Also, there is really no difference between the early Euro throttle bodies and the US ones except for the throttle switches (which can be easily changed).
: : You can get a spare throttle body off any pre 1981 US/euro 6 or 5 series car (ie 633csi/635csi, 528i,530).
: : Does that help?

: Thanks alot, you really did give me the info, that i needed. I will plug the fitting and hose. I live in Louisiana and it does not get to cold down here. I sorry to sound so BMW dumb, as I am new to the world. I cant get to much info. around here. The 635 CSI cars are very rare in this area.
: Thanks again, Rod
