swapping 262, new one came out of 5 too long!! (archive)

what do i need in terms of a shorter driveshaft to fit this 262 into my ride? im putting this in a 77 630 and the used tranny came out of a 80 5 series, ive got them side by side and the other 262(from the 5) is longer,the input shaft splines are the same though, and ive swapped bellhousings. also need to figure out what to do about the shifter plate, there is another hole closer to the tranny, but i would need to cut off the cup and weld it on the other hole? or can i find a new plate? help me
