: ok to use in an 88 635? I just wanted to make sure before I change the power steering fluid and filter. I just wanted to double check to make sure it was ok.

: Thanks!!!

From what I'm told you're only supposed to use ATF (automatic transmission fluid) or Pentosin for the power steering. This is from a post on alt.autos.bmw:

----------------
"Your car could take ATF or Pentosin, depending on options.

Pentosin is a clear/yellowish fluid.

Owners manuals are notorious for ambiguous information.

There should be a sticker on the reservoir, or cast lettering in the lid,
that tell you what to use in that particular vehicle.

Do not use "power steering fluid" from an autoparts store, no matter what."
--------------

I'm told that ATF is a higher quality motor oil with higher detergent %, and that it keeps it
viscosity much better at lower temperatures.

Also, by using regular power steering fluid you can damage o-rings and seals in the system.
