BMW's like most luxo cars, may have sound dampening material in the trunk/back seat area. RIP IT OUT.
Big cars with trunks require more noise. BTW my taurus sho required the sound deadening material removed, then dynamat to remove the rattles, then 3 12" comp speakers ($250/each) run mono, @ 1ohm to a nice amp that pumps stable 1200watts rpm with a 1 farad cap to reduce damage to the charging system. If you must have the super bass, figure spending about $1500 in parts to produce a nice sound, I'm putting a small 5th order bandpass in my 750il with just about 600 watts rms and i doubt it will make much noise (but it was given to me!)
advice: get it done at a stereo shop thats done bmw's before, the wiring is kinda wierd on them, and they tend to produce alot of distortion from motor/charging system noise.

: I have had subwoofers in my car for about 3 months now. They have never sounded right. In the trunk, they sound muffled and distorted because of the sheet metal between rear seats and trunk. Has anyone else put subd in an e-24? If so, please let me know how and where. I don't really want to cut a hole in anything but if you had to do that please post. Thank you.
