: : my speedo reads 10 mph faster than reality. anyone have a fix?
: Easiest way is to shorten the tires by using lower aspect ratio, like change from 205/70 to 205/60. You can compute the circumference of the tire that way and figure what you need for new tires.
: For example, 205/60R15 works out like this:
: 205mm x 60% is the height of the tire section;
: divide by 2.54 (mm/inch) x 2 (both sides of the tire) + 15 (the wheel)
: =24.7 inch tire diameter
: Yeah, I'm an engineeer (how did you guess)
: As a bonus, the shorter tires will also work like a higher ratio differential for better acceleration.
: It worked for me.
I don't have a clue on how that fix worked for you, shorter tires increase the rev's per mile making the situation worse! Try putting some, say, 6" tall tires from a tonka on your car. It will rev like hell, but not go very fast...
