Not all older Alpinas (esp. pre-'82) had the weird upolstery. I have a one-off e23 B9 Alpina that has BBS spoilers and no Alpina upolstery. I have the original Alpina dealer invoice and recently wrote Alpina directly. They confirmed the car's authenticity by VIN# and the original German registration paperwork (which, unfortunately is usually confiscated by Customs on importation). They said they had no Alpina e23 spoilers at the time and installed the BBS ones. Go figure!
