: I am a new BMW owner. I have recently acquired a 1977 630CSi with a faulty front passenger window motor. I take it this is a common problem in older 6-Series. Has anyone had luck replacing the motor themselves, or is this best attempted by my local BMW mechanic? Maybe it's the switch, not the motor- is there a good way to test? What costs/time am I in for? Any advice on what I'm getting into would be helpful. Also, best place for replacement parts, new or rebuilt, etc. would be appreciated as well.

I'm betting on the switch. Try unplugging the switch and exchanging for one that works.
