I own an actual 1977 630csi and don't know if later years are easier to acess, but I have had the door panels off numerous times to fix window probs over the 6 years I've had it (now 300+k mi.)

before anything, switch that window's switch with the one that works the best, probably the driverside, if any other switch makes it work, thats that, otherwise...

As far as our year, the motor is difficult to acess. After removing the cardboard door panel, I un-hinge the window from the lift arm and push it all the way up and prop it up with a wood stick or dowel(the access cut-outs are tight and the edges sharp!). Then its easiest to unscrew and drop the motor/large gear & arm assy. to the bottom of the door to acess the motor mount screws easly and seperate it from the main assy. The original motor is different from newer replacements from Bosche, the new motor is in a more compact housing, but is correct.
