Hows this for reliability!
My car has either 300k(ish)or 400k(ish) miles depending if odo.rolled before I bought it (90k)
6yrs ago. When I bought it, it was 17yrs. old thats why it could be either. As long as your willing to take good care and do the necc.repairs when needed, it can last for a long time.

Also, last year I went to Bavarian Autosport's "Show&Shine" in N.H., a fellow E24 owner told me of a guy involved(boardmem.) with the local BMWCCA who's (M6 or 635csi)had 600k miles and still running strong!
The point is these cars esp. the M30 engine should easily be good for 250-300K miles if they are cared for and 8-10 times they are pampered!
I'm curious if the M6 eng. is just as long lasting but i'm sure most all are still running strong.
