If you're looking for a 5 speed, the later cars are better. '85s had Getrag 265's, related to M6s, 86 on had beefed up version of 83-4 trans. I think 88-89s had 208 HP engines, bigger valves, etc. 89s may have some extra "value" as the last year - sellers often tout it.
