Did the static on the volume control away? I'll bet not. From your first post I would say that it's the pots connectors for the volume control on the radio itself. You can clean them, but if the radio is old you'd be amazed at how much better a new unit will sound.

: the ground wire and ignition wire were mixed up.
: the two were confused b/c whoever had the car be 4 me wraped the ign. wire in black. it should have been the ground wrped in black. oh well.
: i got my coolant warning light fixed in the process. it turns out i dont need a new one.
