dead spot in gas pedal, Help! thx... (archive)

My car was just relaeased from the auto body shop a couple of weeks ago, since it's been out, there has been a dead spot when I accelerate, which usually passes after a couple of seconds... sometimes it sounds as if the engine misses, or back fires. I'm not sure what this problem is, I've used injector cleaner... seemed to help a little, but the problem remains.
any suggestions?
