: My '78 633 is failing emissions because of excessive CO both at idle and cruise. This appears to be an indicator of running too rich. Is there an adjustment on L-tronic which would allow the mixture to be leaned out?

Have you checked your:

Computer temp sensor (not the gauge sender)?
How's the fuel pressure at the rail?
How's the catalytic converter?

You can:
1)Recalibrate the AFM (adjust so the spring pressure is slightly greater)
2)Reduce the fuel pressure with a variable pressure regulator if the installed one is correct, but the mixture is still too rich.
3)Add 10% ethanol to your fuel (alcohol oxigenates the fuel)
