: My '78 633 is failing emissions because of excessive CO both at idle and cruise. This appears to be an indicator of running too rich. Is there an adjustment on L-tronic which would allow the mixture to be leaned out?

If this is a catalyst equipped car then it can't be done because it is a closed loop control system that should control the air fuel ratio to a fixed value. If the CO is too high then either the control system or the catalyst is bust.

Sorry for the bad news
