I just went thru this on a 86 635csi. You need to pry the check light cluster from the bottom. Once that is removed you'll see several screws to remove the instrument panel. On the right side you'll see a blank immediately next to the instrument cluster. Pry this off, very slowly. Once removed you'll see several more screws. As far as the fog lamp and headlamp switches, I opted not to remove them. Instead I disconnected the wiring from the rear.

Also in order to remove the cluster, you will have to unscrew the two bolts holding the steering column in place. Once you remove the bottom molding, you'll see them (approx. half way down).

One other thing, there are several connectors you will need to remove from the back of the instrument cluster, in order to remove it. On my 86, the SI batteries were located within the instrument cluster. This necessitated the removal of the tach and speedo, from the rear of the instrument cluster.
