I just purchased an 85 635 and have an excellent BMW master mechanic. His shop is off of Route 70 coming into Baltimore. He has been excellent in getting mine roadworthy. He doesn't do body work, but is great for everything else. Urban Auto, Tom Urban is the owner - 410.465.8615.

I just fixed the rust holes yesterday under the back wheel wells to pass inspection. I took .06 aluminum and cut some patches, but that is not the painted area of the body. The only place I have rust is two blisters on the front panels next to the headlights.

My problem is that the paint job is going whacky. It looks like the clear coat has developed a tiny hair scratch finish like someone took steel wool to it. Apparently I am told that the paint eventually does this. I am hoping to try compounding a small area and see what I get. I really want to keep the original finish if I can.
