dave i had the same problem and i'm sorry to say it took me a day to drill out the boot lock and the backing. best of luck. the bmw later e12 bootlocks fit by the way . be very carefull replacing it ,make sure you mark around the old latch before you replace it so you know where to put the new one, take care paul
