YOUR right about the power increase being achived mid>high rpms, I had a mechanical engineer who worked for Cosworth Racing (UK) explain to me one time the dynamic principles of induction and combustion on this topic(worked heads)and explained that you actually loose a slight bit of low rpm power due to air/fuel "swirling" being lessened but said for cars like ours that work in the mid to upper end of the powerband it works well.
