: The european has 36 addition hp over the US model. It is rated at 218 and 224lb torque (10+ from US spec). The euro does not have the large ugly black 5mph bumpers- they shouldn't decrease safety much at all, and it looks a lot nicer w/ chrome capped bumpers. Being 200lbs less in weight and having that extra power will mean BIG increases in performance. i do not know how u get it to pass inspection -- it has no cats. I think it also runs leaded 97 octane gas- but check on that. If you are looking for a performer, go w/ the euro. IF performance isn't a big priority, a US would probably be cheaper and easier to run.

Dan is correct in the hp/torque figures for the euro 635. It will run fine on standard unleaded fuel (premium). $9K is a premium price and the car should be flawless, typical euro 635csi prices are $4K-$7K. You should check with the seller to make sure he has the EPA/DOT releases for the car. If he doesn't, you may have quite a bit of difficulty getting the car licensed where you live. You didn't mention if you have local emmision testing or not --a euro car can be very difficult to make pass (especially in California!). I would call the local DMV office and explain to them your wish to purchase a grey market car and get as much information from them as possible. It may change your mind about the purchase........

Lucky that I live in a place w/no emission testing so I can play with my euro BMW's.
