I'm no expert but my 77-630CSi(US)was originally a lead burner with the dreaded thermal reactors. At some point it was fitted w/633 head and lost the thermals, still has no cat but never a prob passing emmisions(NY) and I think its because the emissions from using unleaded in that engine sans smog-eqiup. is FAR enough below the acceptable NY levels. Have it tested on unleaded and check the CO./HC. levels to see if they will be acceptable and if not, the car can always be fitted with a cat. later.
