: I am ñurrently looking at a 1983 633 CSi located in the Midwest and wanted to get your ideas on what it was worth. BTW, I own an '89 735 (5-speed), so I'm very familiar with the bix-six engine and its quirks. Here are the specs on the car:
: --140,000 miles
: --looked in oil filler cap with flashlight and all looks very clean (no sludge);
: --5-speed, but when shifting from 2 to 3, and down from 4 to 3, there is a click/slighting grinding (bad synchro?);
: --it is very difficult to turn the wheels, thus I suspect the p/s pump doesn't work;
: --the clutch is very difficult to push in as if it is not even hydraulically assisted;
: --blower only works on high (probably needs a new "sword");
: --inside not if very good condition (rear leather seats very dried out and fronts covered with seat covers, manual seats at that);
: --OBC does not work
: --according to CarFax report, car hit a bridge in '88. Car looks straight.
: --bit of rust in driver's door pillar.
: --a/c doesn't work (according to owner, "it needs a charge;" Yeah, right.
: --engine appears to run strong and accelerate well. No major repairs have been done to car according to current owner.
: --fan clutch offers no resistance.
: The owner is asking $3,700 OBO. I would like the car for a thrash car but do NOT plan to restore it or invest significant amounts of cash it (maybe $1000 up front for all basics). What you think it's worth, and what do you think I can offer first without offending this guy? Need a sounding board. Thanks for your thoughts.
