: I'm getting ready to dump the 220/55/390 TRX rims on my 87 L6.
: Dicount Tire Direct has a replica BWM rim that I may end up getting. According to them A 225/60/15 will fit fine. Does anyone know if this is an eqivalent swap as far as diameter and width so they don't rub anywhere? I saw in the archives some said do the math and showed it, but math wasn't my strong suit and I don't know how he did it. I'm not necessarily looking for low profile, just good looks on the car with the same handeling and no body interference.I put 15" rims on my 635 with 215/60/15 (CH95's). These ride softer than the TRX's. the tires are part of the overall suspension so it depends on your struts, sway bars and springs. I have heavy duty bilsteins on an otherwise stock suspension. I think the 16" rims and tires would be to hard a ride. The 635 has oversteer, with the TRX's the rear usually breaks free with the 15" rubber I can get the inside rear wheel off the ground. There is a good article in the BMW companion about suspension and oversteer. Good Luck.
