: I'm getting ready to dump the 220/55/390 TRX rims on my 87 L6.
: Dicount Tire Direct has a replica BWM rim that I may end up getting. According to them A 225/60/15 will fit fine. Does anyone know if this is an eqivalent swap as far as diameter and width so they don't rub anywhere? I saw in the archives some said do the math and showed it, but math wasn't my strong suit and I don't know how he did it. I'm not necessarily looking for low profile, just good looks on the car with the same handeling and no body interference.

I put 15" rims on my 635 with 215/60/15 (CH95's). These ride softer than the TRX's. the tires are part of the overall suspension so it depends on your struts, sway bars and springs. I have heavy duty bilsteins on an otherwise stock suspension. I think the 16" rims and tires would be to hard a ride. The 635 has oversteer, with the TRX's the rear usually breaks free with the 15" rubber I can get the inside rear wheel off the ground. There is a good article in the BMW companion about suspension and oversteer. Good Luck.
