: : I'm wanting to purchase a lithium battery from radio shack tonight to replace my dash battery and need to know what type I have to get... I know it needs to be charged but what size, number, type is where I'm lost
: : any help would be appreciated!

: Alex,
: About 6 months ago I followed the BCG post on replacing the SI batteries to a remote location (mine is now under the front kick panel - 4 screws for future replacement)

: I had bought the Radio Shack Heavy Duty NiCd (1000 mA/hr rating)but the SI lights wouldn't stay off for more than a week or so. I then bought the cheaper NiCd Radio Shacks, rated at 600 mA/hr to try. After 6 months, no problems. I think since I added about 2-3 feet of wire, maybe the charging circuit wasn't up to the task of higher rated batteries? (orginal red batteries were 450 mA/hr).
: Good Luck
