Best to just take a look.
My shifter support bracket broke recently; could be that. I was able to replace it ($29) without dropping the driveshaft and muffler.
Could also be any of several clips. If a clip fell off then you may have lost the nylon washers (spacers) too. Be sure to replace those washers if they fell off or it will shift very sloppily.
