As i pulled out of a 25 MPH curve at 65 MPH this evening, and upped into third, i thought of your engineers. My M635csi, which i've owned for around six months now, gripped tighter than it ever has to the warm Carolina pavement. The car seemed to miss being in third as i made way through the last two gears. The Porsche behind me was now WAY behind me and i thought of your design team. The pen and pad guys. Guys that had the balls to throw 400hp in a convertible and use James Bond as the test pilot. The guys that brought us the E24. The M635, M6, L6, etc. etc. The most timeless design BMW has ever produced. (Not even matched by the 507 IMO.) Cars that were amazingly agile for their weight. Cars that still turn heads two decades after the they hit the streets. Cars that are just plain BITCHIN'.
I BEG OF YOU, never produce another 6 series. Retire the number. Were i to hear of new 6 series, I would pray that it were identical to the old one, but sported the v8/v12s, and a plush interior like the L6 had. If I could pick the Michael Jordan of vehicles, it would be the E24. A car that started as a young coupe, capable, yet fresh. And evolved into 300 HP of mind-numbing German steel. Ther will never be another Jordan. And i think i speak for alot of folks when i BEG you not to stick a 6 badge on a car made in South Carolina. The reason BMW is so popular today is cars like the M6. BANG for the buck, even used.
