: Hey guys!
: After months of trying I finally got the aux fan resistor off! then I replaced it with a new one. After that, I Went and turned on the air conditioner and the aux fan started working! My problem is, the aux fan doesnt come on when the car is idling, only when you turn the air on so the car still isnt being properly cooled. I did the test in the BCG. I disconnected the the wires that went to the low speed switch on the side of the radiator fan, then junpered the wires together, then turned the ignition to the on position and the fan came on. I did the saame test to the high speed switch, and nothing. So I went to the dealer and got a high speed relay, now It comes on when jumpered like it should, but it never comes on by itself when idling. By the way, I also brought a new high speed switch, but the aux fan still only comes on when the air is on only.......WHAT HAVE I OVERLOOKED?The Temperature sensor in the radiator could be bad. But it sounds like you fixed your problem. To test, remove the Temp. Sensor (some 6ers have two sensors, some have one) and test it by immersing it in nearly boiling water and take a resistance reading. The reading from the common lug to the other one should read very low resistance as opposed to high resistance when the temperature of the water is cooler. You'll have know what your sensors temp. rating is. My L6 has only one plug with a dual 91/99 Celcius. sensor. Other 6ers have two, and their closing temperatures can be anywhere from 81 to 99 c. Unless the PO had changed them to a lower setting, I think they should also be 91 and 99 c sensors. HTH
