Rear Bumper Discolor (archive)

The rear chrome bumper of my 85 635 EURO discolors from the exhaust. The car does not burn oil. I believe the heat of the exhaust and the vacuum formed by the rear spoiler may be causing this problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any solutions? Thanks in advanced.
