: Hey Barry, I have a 84 633 with an auto tranny. What ever you do make sure you have the tranny checked out. The ZF 4HP22 is notorious for frying during emission testing or a/c refridgerant filling. One way to tell if the trans is going south is put the trans in nuetral while running at idle see if the car creeps on level ground.
: Mine blew 2 days after purchasing.
: Good Luck

: : Looking into buying an 84' 633csi auto. What should I look for? Any help would be great. This will be my first e24 purchase. Thanks.

I have an '85 with a 5 speed. After driving my mechanic's '87 (automatic), my recommendation would be that you stick with a standard transmission. I was amazed at the difference in feel and handling between the two cars! Besides, the 5 spd is much quicker (and much more fun to drive!) They are great cars and I think that it's a great choce... but I'm not biased or anything! Best of luck.
