My car was acting up as well, it read as though it was always hot... I replaced the thermostat, no luck... it wasn't until I removed the thermostat sensor by the radiator (2 electrical wires coming out of top) it unscrews, but be sure to plug the hole when you take it out, anitfreeze will seep out. At any rate, once I removed it, I wet sanded the connctions with a fine grit sand paper, as well as the copper sensor inside (tube like piece connected to the sensor) after I cleaned it up, I put it back in, and the temp. had dropped down to below the middle, rather than in the red where it was!
worked for me, if this doesn't help, try getting your rad. flushed or rodded...
cheers!

: Well, my 79' 633csi turbo has been running
hot and it didn't get any hotter....until today when my temp light came on for a few seconds. I turned the heater on to draw the heat out of the engine which lowered the temperature a little bit. I'm considering a new oil cooler, will this help. Or should I have the thermostat checked. I know that of course the turbo is going to and heat to my engine. The thermo may not have been changed when the turbo was installed, I don't think they put an oil cooler on there either. What are some ways of keeping the temperature down? Someone mentioned "water wetter" , which would help, but I think that it's bigger than that. Thanks.....
