It will stay on if you turn the key back to ON. You know, the key position between accessory and start. That way, you can make sure that it doesn't drain the battery, but you get some additional cooling if you need it. (My '91 850i runs cooler than a new 635 did. I had a 6er as a daily driver for three years, and the comment that I got from every mechanic was "That's how they run.") If you have a garage at your house, you can get one of those big floor-fans from Home Depot and position it facing the front of the car. You can then turn it on and plug it into the light bulb socket in the garage door opener. When the door goes up, the fan goes on, and you pull in. Shut down the car, and lower the garage door. The fan goes off after about 10 minutes with the timer that runs the light bulb. These things shouldn't be necessary, but I'm an engineer geek whom thinks that every little bit of heat reduction helps. Especially with these Atlanta summers.
