: Does anyone know how difficult or what exactly it takes to change alternator bushings on a 1988 635? Also any thoughts on the ureathane bushings? Thanks Again!!!

I replaced my shot rubber bushings w/ the ureathane bushings for my 85 635 a few months back. Bushings were from BMP (about 4 $ each - need 4 large). It took about 30 minutes to get the alternator out of the car. Hardest part was some electrical connections on underside on alternator. Wear eye protection. To replace bushings, spend time cleaning out the black goop (what's left of the rubber bushings.) Installing the new bushings required a decent size vice w/ a cheater bar. Use a washer or something so you don't damage the new bushing. When I asked BMW how much they would charge, the estimate was about $150. My cost was about $16 and a good 2 hours of time. End result was a alternator that's correctly in line.
Good luck.
