Len:

Sounds like the overflow for the power steering reservoir, the brass coloured can with the knurled knob. Uses Dextron ATF, red in colour. Doesn't have the acrid taste of brake fluid, if you are up to this test! if the fluid is old, it may be quite black.

Common problem is over filling the P/S reservoir. With the car shut off, pump the brakes about 20 times (until hard). You should see the PS level come up considerably (about the depth of the filter screen). If you overfill, tube takes the extra ATF to the overflow tube at the rear of the front fender.

If the fluid looks pretty black, consider changing it and the filter. Did a post about a week ago on this procedure.

Hope this helps.

: I have a overflow hose on drivers side front wheelwell which is leaking fluid all the time. It is notfrom the coolant reservoir. as it is ps or brake fluid. I am sure it is from the ps. But Why And from Where is it comming from? Any Knowledge would be appreciated.
