Just remove the three nuts at the top of the strut housing and the three bolts that hold the bottom of the strut where it connects to the steerable member. Disconnect the ABS sensor line, pad sensor connection and remove the caliper housing. The complete assy will come right out and you can work safely on the bench.Use a good spring compressor to be safe.
A 17mm socket on an impact wrench makes short work out of removing the shock rod top nut.
Be careful and good luck. Approx. time 2-3 hrs.
