I have the same car as you with 204.000 miles on it and i just had the same problems also.
My flex guibo went and began hering alot of knocking and vibration when i pulled off from 1st gear. so i had the flew guibo and center bearing replaced and all the noise and vibration is gone except when i pull off hard from 1st gear, then i'LL get a slight knocking. So to answer your question, if you replaced your flex guibo and center bearing and your still get knocks and vibrations, then you need to replace your drive shaft. You can get a rebulit one at bavarian autosport for for 400.00. P.S I like the 2002, but I would never trade a 6 for an 02!
