OBC not getting speed info (archive)

My OBC does not register any of the info that requires input about the speed of the car. ie mph, avg mph, range, etc. What is the cause of this and is the fix something I can do myself? I just bought this car and it needs some work. I want to do as much as I can myself and then take it to a BMW pro with a list of stuff to finish off.
