Blue Ribbon Sheepskins review (archive)

In an attempt to preserve the buffalo leather of my '86 M635csi, I ordered a pair of Blue Ribbon's top custom sheepskins in black with matching headrests. While it took close to two weeks just to ship (and another couple of days UPS from CA) they arrived as promised with decent instructions and a handy tool to hook the straps. With no returns except for fitment problems, I was naturally worried about dropping $500+ sight unseen. The person who I spoke with spent the time to assure me that he was producing sheepskins that would rival if not better anything else I would be able to find. He seemed to be well aware of his competition and knew of BavAuto's sets as well as OEM (prob NLA for a 6er). Very professional and a good salesperson -

I am very happy with the covers - they hides are very thick (1" is no exaggeration), the pile is plush with a silky-sheen. Insides are lined with some type of cotton gauze material and stitches seem to be sturdy. Appropriate slits were cut for the seat releases and the headrest poles. The holes disappear given the 1" thickness. The covers looked too large but after settling in, they fit nicely. Only two minor complaints: 1)the thigh bolster sections could stand to be slightly more snug - very minor. 2) there are 3 straps that run under the seat, and I believe another two sets on each side. I don't know about other seats but on my sport seats, there is no access to the springs to hook all these straps. I ended up hooking them to each other behind the seat- not pretty but I suppose necessary to keep the contours.

Highly recommended if you can justify the cost - these are absolutely not to be compared with KMart specials or even premium covers (I've had LL Bean covers that run over $100+ ea).

Will try and post some pics soon...

Devin
