Good Suspension Compromise (archive)

Hi:

I am about to replace my suspension because my rear self leveling system failed and I will finally delete it. I want a sportier ride but do not want to lower the car a whole lot or loose the nice ride completly. A lot of people have complained about the Bilsteins shocks and said they are to hard. What is good but will not make the car too stiff? Are the H&R springs a bit softer than RD or eibach? Do they lower the car less than the typical 1.25 inches? How about a Sachs/Boge kit ?

I know, a lot of questions. Hopefully you will help me answer them. I live in Washington, DC and as you probably know, the roads are not good at all and a sport suspension will make it even worse on my loved 6er.

Thanks alot
