My current setup on my '86 635csi is: Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks, stock springs, plus-1 tire fitment, and a strut brace. This combo gives me the compromise that works for me. I have a '90 325i with sport shocks(Bilstein) and sport springs(Eibach) that is used for driving school. This setup magnifies every bump in the road and is uncomfortable for a daily driver.

Hope this helps.

Chris in Traverse City
