: Hi:

: I am about to replace my suspension because my rear self leveling system failed and I will finally delete it. I want a sportier ride but do not want to lower the car a whole lot or loose the nice ride completly. A lot of people have complained about the Bilsteins shocks and said they are to hard. What is good but will not make the car too stiff? Are the H&R springs a bit softer than RD or eibach? Do they lower the car less than the typical 1.25 inches? How about a Sachs/Boge kit ?

I was in the same boat with my L6, wanting a slightly lowered look with a more reponsive suspension. I ended up choosing Boge Turbo Gas struts and Suspension Techniques springs. The front end lowered about 1 1/2" and the rear about 1/2". The car now has a slightly forward rake as opposed to the ass-low look it had before.

The Boge gas struts stiffened the suspension up a bit, but not too harsh. I am pleased with the set up and handling. HTH
