In Reply to: tranny fluid change... posted by Rob on June 30, 2000 at 14:09:51:

: Going to change the tranny fluid in my 85. I have a manual transmission, but heard from a friend that I need to put automatic fluid in the car. Is this so? If yes, which brand, type, grade do you recommend. I would like to get something in there that lubricates well, the car has 242,000 kms and shifting is rough for a few minutes after driving. I hear Mobil 1 is good? Suggestions.

: Thanks, Rob

of fluid is called for. If it says use automatic transmission fluid then I would use the Redline D4 ATF. If it calls for some type of oil then I would use the Redline MTL. Make sure you can get the fill plug out before you start draining the old fluid.
