635 Running rough at low speeds (archive)

I am trying to troubleshoot a running problem with my wifes '85 635csi. It cold starts OK and seems to idle fine, but when I start to accelerate you can feel the hesitation start to set in as you run up the rpm. When I start to slow down you can feel the engine 'lope' at lower rpm's, 2000 or less.
It has new plugs and wires, new dist. cap and rotor, new throttle position switch and I just put in a new idle control valve. Valve adjustment is OK.
If it helps, I do have to crank it on hot starts. I am not sure whether this is related or not.
