: y car, which I have driven around for the past year has suddenly gotten very sick. It was running fine last night but when I went to go somewhere this morning started out not feeling right, slow acceleration, hard - funny steering, next battery light went on, next overheating.
: SO current symptoms are that the car is steadily rising in temperature to the red within 2 miles, battery symbol light is on, and very rapid idle. The first thing I looked for was a broken belt but the look fine. Help - any ideas what it could be.

Here's my guess. The water pump leaks. The dirty slippery coolant drips on to the belts... the belts slip on the pulleys. Hence power steering loss and alternator malfunction. As for the loss of power can't help there.
