CA.,Utah, AZ, NM, CO.TX,Ark. MISS, LA. to Miami,FL. Less than half quart oil used.(About 3500 miles in 7 days)
Months later an oil leak appeared in the back of the engine. I assumed it was the main seal. Kept adding a quart every 6 0r 7 hundred miles.
4th of July weekend I took a 600 mile trip to Orlando.(Constant 80-85 mph for 200 miles.).I had adjusted the CO2 screw mostly to the left and the air flap a couple of notches clockwise. The car was a little sluggish on take off.
Upon return I took off the AFM and noticed quite a bid of oil in the air hose and in the AFM opening.
I replaced the AFM with a spare one I've got and the car runs OK.
Is it time for a wet and dry compression test? I changed the plugs about 6 k ago and they were not fouled. No trace of oil.
Previous owner told me he had redone the head. The car doesn't smoke at all( as far as I can tell). Mileage is unknown due to the proverbial odometer failure.(it reads 38020K)
The fact that the head was redone and fuel pump was changed upon total failure by the previous owner makes me think this L.A. car has a least 100 if not 150k even though interior and rubber pedals show minimum wear. (Clutch is about to go too)
Rear end was replaced which inclines me to suspect hard driving.(maybe it's those huge 16 inch rear rims. I fault them at least for provoking ALL street racers in this mad city against my gracefully aging Euro-Six).
Thank for any opinions.
