: looking to make some subtle performance enhancements to my 85 635csi, but don't want to do anything too alter its essential character. option being considered: installing a chip. any thoughts? other suggestions? the car has 152G miles.

Herb, I had installed a chip and a K&N filter in my 85 635csi. It was the best 300 bucks ever spent. With my 635 being an automatic, I didn't really notice any change at low rpm, but once it get's past 3500 rpm it will sing all the way to 7500 if I let it. I have also changed the trans fluid with b&m trick shift fluid, it now chirps the 245/40's from first to second at 63mph. Enough said, I am a happy man....The chip & filter I had purchased from Bavarian autosport, Portsmouth, NH.
