Well, the clicking sound would indicate some sort of mechanical (gear) failure in the unit. My odometer went blank last week, so I pulled the whole speedo unit out of my instrument panel and shipped it to North Hollywood Speedometer. They repaired it and turned it around in 1 day for less than $100. I just put the unit back in today, and it works great.
