Mercedes 560sec is awesome, BUT... (archive)

I have had the pleasure of driving an '83 380 SEC and a '90 560 SEC. Both were phenominal in terms of ergonomics and highway comfort! I LOVE the SEC, and it is also my favorite Benz (and the s600 coupe circa 1997/8)! I only have one gripe with the sec: You feel detatched from the road in it. Not that they are bad at handling, they go right where you put them! I just wish that steering them was more power-assisted feeling than the Mercedes' steering. Feedback is a bit squishier/more luxurious than a BMW, as a Benz usually is. I suppose I am spoiled with my ///M635 in terms of handling! As a grand tourer, the 560 sec is quite a monster!!! If you get rid of the Bimmer 6, you'll certainly regret it every time (as rarely as it may come) that one cruises by! I say have your cake, and your Bimmer. Even if you cover the BMW up, and use it as a weekend warrior.
Besides, for what you can fetch nowadays for a 6 car, is it worth losing it? I will bet my axle that e24 BMWs will become VERY pricey in the mid teens, early 20's. The SEC will surely be classic, too!

Enjoy them both, as it is like comparing a fighter jet to a Leer jet.
